31 Oct Christopher Bochmann’s homage concert
Last 31st of October Christopher Bochmann conducted his homage concert with Orquestra Sinfonica Juvenil.
The concert took place at the São Luiz Teatro Municipal in Lisbon.
The programme begins and ends with “L’Hotellerie Portugaise: Overture” by Cherubini and “Béatrice et Bénédict: Ouverture” by Berlioz (Professor and pupil). In between were included pieces by former students of his, which were dedicated to him. This programme symbolises very well his activity as a teacher, composer and conductor here in Portugal. The programme also includes Anton Webern’s Op. 7 orchestrated by him.
As a conductor, Christopher Bochmann has been especially active in the fields of contemporary music and youth orchestras and choirs. Since 1984 he has been resident conductor of the Orquestra Sinfonica Juvenil – OSJ (Lisbon Youth Orchestra, Portugal) with whom he has recorded several CDs of his own music.
