Lamentos, the album by António Pinho Vargas recorded and produced by N Studio, has won Best Classical Album at the PLAY Awards 2024 — one of the most prestigious recognitions in the Portuguese music industry.
About the PLAY Awards
The PLAY – Portuguese Music Awards were created in 2019 with the mission of celebrating and promoting the best of national music, contributing to the recognition of talent across Portuguese and Portuguese-speaking artists. The awards span 14 categories, with the entire nomination and selection process overseen by external auditor PwC, ensuring full transparency and impartiality.
This year’s gala brought together 50 nominated artists, from which 14 winners were selected. The ceremony was marked by memorable performances, with the highlight going to the Alentejo cante — classified as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO in 2014 — which captivated the audience throughout the evening.
A deserved recognition
Winning Best Classical Album, Lamentos stands as a testament to António Pinho Vargas’s artistry as a composer and pianist, as well as to the dedication of everyone involved in bringing this project to life. For the N Studio team, this recognition is a proud reminder of why the work of recording and producing music of this calibre matters.
