13 May Recording at Casa da Música do Porto
N produces the live recording of the Orquestra Sinfónica do Porto Casa da Música for the Portuguese National Radio (Rádio e Televisão de Portugal).
Cândido Lima is one of the key names in composition, interpretation and music theory of the twentieth century in Portugal, and remains extremely active until today. His work România, Paisagens Subterrâneas – premiered at Fundação Gulbenkian in 2004 – opens a program that illustrates the state of music in Portugal with a group of composers from different generations. From composer Isabel Soveral, born in Porto, we will hear Paredeisoi, a work named after the Greek word given to the ancient Persian gardens. Inspired by the “History of the Future” by Father António Vieira, the work of João Pedro Oliveira was written for the centenary of the Republic and is now presented for the first time ever in its version for orchestra and electronics.
A piece that has already travelled throughout the world, Luís Tinoco’s Before Spring is a tribute to Stravinsky’s famous Rite of Spring. Premiered at the Strasbourg Music Festival in 2012, Daniel Moreira’s Paisagem do Tempo is a cinematic fantasy that refers the listener to techniques from the seventh art.
