
13 Jan Karita Mattila sings Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder
N Studio Lisbon’s team made the recording of the concert performed by the Gulbenkian Orchestra and Karita Mattila playing Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder and Mahler’s Smphony n.1.
In addition to two Grammy Awards for “Best Opera Recording” – The Master Singers of Nuremberg, conducted by George Solti (1998), and Jenůfa, with conductor Bernard Haitink (2004) – Karita Mattila is part of a vast discography that includes the Four Last Songs of R. Strauss, with Claudio Abbado, Schönberg’s Gurrelieder and Symphony No. 14 of Chostakovich, conducted by Simon Rattle. An important artistic figure in the field of contemporary music, she participated in the world premieres of Quatre instants, Mirage and Emilie by Kaija Saariaho.
The concert was directed by Hannu Lintu and will be broadcasted by RTP Antena 2.
