In addition to two Grammy Awards, for “Best Opera Recording” – The Master Singers of Nuremberg, conducted by George Solti (1998), and Jenůfa, with conductor Bernard Haitink (2004) – Karita Mattila is part of a vast discography that includes the Four Last Songs of R. Strauss, with Claudio Abbado, Schönberg’s Gurrelieder and Symphony No. 14 of Chostakovich, conducted by Simon Rattle.
An important artistic figure in the field of contemporary music, he participated in the world premieres of Quatre instants, Mirage and Emilie by Kaija Saariaho.
